Hello there!
I’m Julia Shea (she/they), and I am an illustrator and designer. I grew up in Northern New Jersey, and currently live in Brooklyn (though I will always be a Jersey girl at heart).
I graduated from Amherst College in 2021 with a double major in Fine Arts and English. Since the fall of 2021, I have been working for Little Simon and Simon Spotlight (imprints of Simon & Schuster) as a Junior Designer.
I got my start working in the children’s books world at the ripe old age of 15 as the first junior bookseller at The Curious Reader in Glen Rock, NJ. There, I grew to adore children’s books not just as a child who loves to read, but as an adult who loves crafting worlds for children to explore. I try to balance both of these perspectives in my work now.
When I’m not doodling, I’m probably daydreaming about my graphic novel ideas, on a stroll with an audiobook, or chasing down dogs to pet.
